Can You Beat Pikmin 2?

Sometimes, an idea hits me that is too good, too stupid, too “me” to say no to. And sometimes, that idea leads me down a rabbit hole of picking up an entirely new skill for weeks or months to see it out, for an ideal audience that is, generally, very niche. This was one of those.

Inspiration struck in late December 2025, and I sent the idea (and a full paragraph’s worth of potential script) to a friend.

I say things like this all the time, but on this occasion, I was genuinely tempted to try to make it.

So, I got to work. And:

  • An entire pre-planned route through the game

  • Over 7.5 hours, 36gb of recorded footage

  • 3800 words of script

  • An entire video editing program, DaVinci Resolve, learned from scratch

  • A timeline that looks like, well, see below

  • Too many hours

    and 2 months later, it was finished.
